It is very sad to see what is happening in Jamaica in the manufacturing sector.Mr. Samuda came to Florida and spoke to Jamaicans residing there to come home and start a business to invest into Jamaica’s economy.This in itself is a very good move headed in the right direction, but that cannot be the end of it !!Island Breeze Ltd. is a manufacturer of quality fruit drinks in pouches, bottle fruit juices,cranberry juice and flavoured water.Although people enjoy the taste of our products we are faced with the uphill battle of getting our goods into the supermarkets locally !!We compete with oversea’s brands that pack the supermarket shelves!! and although our packaging is just as attractive and our quality product is just as good even better,we are constantly been turned away from the supermarkets saying that they have enough drinks on their shelves !!These drinks on the shelves do not contribute to one employment in manufacturing !they do not contribute to our roads !they do not contribute to the growth of the country !Something has to be done ! I thought the government would take this matter into their hands , but nothing is being done.
Consumers need to realize that they have the power to take back Jamaica ! We are the ones who will have to say enough is enough! If we do not buy the foreign goods on the shelves , then the supermarkets are forced to stop buying them.It is sad to see our local companies struggle while the overseas products sit proudly on the shelves.I agree that we need to live comfortably and be able to purchase the finer things in life , but somethings have gone too far ! why import the same things that are manufactured here ?Manufacturers must be protected so that jobs are created.Come on everyone BUY JAMAICAN BUILD JAMAICA lets get back the Jamaican pride.
